Reading by the pool or at the beach is truly one of the great pleasures of summer.
(Although it’s not without risks. I once had to buy the library a new copy of E.L. Doctorow’s The March because I tipped out of my pool float and into the water while reading.)
One of my absolute favorite beach books is The Love Letter, by Cathleen Schine. It’s set in a beach town, the protagonist owns a bookstore, it’s got a love story *and* a mystery. What more could you want?
